Stitching Romantic Days to Our Married Life at Munnar

For the last few months, I was totally busy with my wedding rituals. I never thought I will get hitched so soon. During my final year, I got placed in one of the most reputed companies in India. Nowadays getting a job soon after graduation is something equivalent to a miracle. I am really grateful to the Lord for his blessings. I was placed in one of the most populated and busiest cities in the country called Mumbai. I did not find much difficulty to adjust with their lifestyle and climate as I was born and lived in Mumbai till my 5th standards followed to my father’s transfer we moved to Kerala. Things were going so smoothly. After a year my parents started searching for a perfect partner for me. They uploaded some of my photographs in the matrimonial sites. They hide these activities from me because I was not interested in getting married at that time. One of the families expressed their interest and was invited to my house on a Saturday. And it was Diwali holidays and I had a week’s leave from the office. I reached by Friday evening. They all behaved normally to me. But I smelled something phishing. I tried my best to inquire about the matter but I failed. The next morning when I woke I heard my mother and grandma instructing my dad to purchase some sweets from the market and 3 packets of milk. I wondered why parents did not tell me about the arrival of guests. After getting refreshed I moved to the kitchen and asked the matter. Without listening to the question, my granny asked me to get ready soon and also told me to wear traditional Indian dress. I wondered what is happening in the house. I lose my temper and shouted like anything. My mother had no other option than to reveal the secret. It was nothing but a guy and his family is coming today to visit me. I was very angry with them. I refused to get ready. By that time my dad returned from the market. He tried his hard to console. And as everyone knows if a child is not agreeing to their parent’s instruction the final step what they will do is ‘emotional blackmailing’ and that is what happened here. This emotional blackmailing is a kind of a poisonous weapon that each child is afraid of. Finally, I was forced to obey their instructions. By 10 am they arrived. My family received them and I was prying through the window from the kitchen but I could only see his Innova car. From their conversation I came to know that guy is working in IBM as a senior software developer in Mumbai! I was impressed with his profile. After a few minutes, my mother came to the kitchen and asked me to accompany her with a tray of tea. I followed her commands. Just like his family, he is also soft-spoken. I liked his personality. Within an hour they departed us. Soon our both families started to investigate our whereabouts. Within two months we got hitched and permanently shifted to Mumbai. Now we were seriously thinking about our pending honeymoon trips. Many places came into our minds but we decided to celebrate our romantic honeymoon days in Munnar. It is one of the famous hill stations in Kerala. We packed all the things for the trip and got ready for the tour.

We availed of flight services to Cochin International Airport. From there we travelled for nearly 2 hours to Munnar. We captured the lovely and mesmerizing images of traditional stores, luxurious malls, plantations and many more. In other words, one could say that Kerala is an amalgamation of ancient and present amenities. After a little bit hectic journey we reached the resort. As we had already booked the rooms we did not have to waste much time at the reception for completing the formalities. After resting for a while, by the evening we started our sightseeing. Munnar is located on the banks of three famous rivers called Matupetti, Nallathanni, and Periavaru. Munnar is categorized into two sections namely Old Munnar and Munnar. We traversed through the plantations of tea. We clicked on many lovely romantic pictures of us. Over there we met many newly married couples coming from various parts of the country who availed honeymoon packages to Kerala at the cheapest rates.  While strolling through the green meadows we bought our hearts to our mouth. Also, we visited the famous tea museum and tried to learn the ancient days of Munnar. Followed to it we returned to our rooms, after refreshing we were surprised to see a candlelight dinner arranged exclusively for us! We really enjoyed it.

The next day we began our sightseeing by relishing traditional cuisines like ‘Appam and Stew’. We reached the famous place of Munnar known as Echo Point. The Echo Point is positioned at an elevation of 600 ft. from the sea and situated at a distance of 15 km. The three mountains named Kundala, Nallathanni, and Mudrapuzha gives an elegance look to the place. Echo Point has many unique attractions and one among them is it allows us to enjoy our sound resonating again and again. We really enjoyed that activity. The next eye-catching feature of the place is spotting the various species of birds while boating. Followed to it we captured the rare images of Strobilanthes flowers, more commonly known as ‘Neelakurinji’ in the native language. These lavender colored flowers bloom once in 12 years. We winded our day by purchasing ripe pineapples and mangoes.
